Meet Syeda Sadaf Shah, the first female graduate of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering, Mehran UET, Jamshoro. Syeda Sadaf Shah is currently The Lead Engineer-Drilling & Completions, UEP. She is also one of the first few women in Pakistan who is working at Rig Site.
She completed her Bachelors in 2011. During her graduation, she served as Vice President SPE Mehran Student chapter for one year. She started her career in Sep 2011 with Well Drilling Institute (WDI) Karachi as a Program Coordinator. She conducted several courses at WDI. She started working as a visiting lecturer in PG department MUET Jamshoro in Jan 2012. Later she joined United Energy Pakistan in Oct 2012
She describes her life as “I belong to a conservative Syed family, for me the most challenging goal was to obtain higher education in the desired field. My father has always been a supportive person in my life. Despite a lot of discouragement from the relatives, I chose Petroleum Engineering. Being the only girl in the class, I had to face a lot of problems but I endured a lot like many other girls who were in the minority. But yes that tough experience made me a strong person.”
She encourages all the girls who are wishing to work in the oil and gas industry As there are lots of opportunities for girls in the energy sector with excellent career prospects and We’re looking forward to seeing more successful faces of Women in Oil Industry. Indeed, she is an Inspiration to for many female candidates getting ready to head into the Oil Industry.
